I. COURSE DESCRIPTION

An overview of law and the legal environment of business emphasizing those parts of law necessary to understand and appreciate the regulatory role of government and including such topics as constitutional law, contracts, torts, business ethics, business organizations, and government regulations.

Clarkson, Miller, Jentz, and Cross: WEST'S BUSINESS LAW, published by West Legal Studies in Business - A Division of Thomson Learning, 8th Edition, Copyright 2001.

IV. OBJECTIVES

The basic objective of this course is to enable the students to understand the impact of law on the environment of business. At the end of the course, the students should (1) have a working knowledge of law, (2) be able to apply legal concepts when they are applicable and (3) understand the relationship between law and business.

1) Choose a Legal Environment of Business topic.

2) Define the problems/issues.

3) Discuss both sides of the issue.

4) Refer to previous studies, court cases and other pertinent material to support your problems/issues and the methods of solving them.

5) Provide the best solutions to solve the legal problems/issues.

6) State conclusions and/or remarks with respect to your research findings.

7) Maximum of ten, double spaced, type-written pages.

8) YOU MUST FOOTNOTE/DOCUMENT YOUR WORK!!!

NOTE: HANDWRITTEN RESEARCH PAPERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!!!

THERE IS A TEN (10) POINT PENALTY FOR "EACH" DAY LATE!!!!!
