Ongoing Research/Writing Projects:

1. Poetry Collections: I am currently working on the second volume of an inspirational poetry book entitled Rivers of Refreshing: Inspirational Poems for the Soul (to appear in August 2009). This is a collection of about 60 inspirational poems and thoughts written over many years, the majority of them written between 2008-2009. My first volume of poetry (entitled Streams of Refreshing: Inspirational Poems for Our Time) was released in December 2008).

2. Book Writing Project: Working on an edited book entitled Global Accents: Languages Other Than English. This will be a compilation of useful chapter-length articles on various languages spoken by millions of people around the globe written by native speaker professionals who have many years of experience studying and teaching these languages to non-native speakers. These language educators will tantalize our readers with linguistic and cultural tidbits about their languages of expertise that will be of tremendous help to those who may have an interest in learning these languages, either for the fun of it or for educational or business reasons. It is hoped that this book will encourage a healthy curiosity toward other languages, cultures and peoples with a view to promoting dialogue, mutual understanding and respect among various peoples with whom we share our ever shrinking and ever changing planet.

3. A Linguistic Monograph on an Important Aspect of Yoruba Grammar: Entitled Aspect in Yoruba, this is a careful re-examination of the Yoruba Verb Phrase. It focuses on the role of "aspect" in Yoruba syntax.

4. Linguistic Article on Second Language Acquisition: Putting finishing touches on an article entitled The Verb-Movement Parameter in Second Language Acquisition: English and French in Contact. This article examines the GB theory of "the verb-movement parameter" in the light of French and English from a second language acquisition perspective.

5. What Happens When Language Contact and Literature Meet: This article entitled Amos Tutuola: Aspect Transfer or 'Bad' English? examines the language of Amos Tutuola, the author of the now famous The Palm-Wine Drinkard, in the light of Yoruba language and culture. It examines the subtle role played by Yoruba syntax in forging the English of Tutuola's writings.

6. An Ongoing Research Examining the Effects of Linguistic Co-habitation: This paper is entitled Reading Under the Influence: English Influences on Yoruba as Seen in Yoruba National Dailies. It examines how the English language has, and continues to influence the Yoruba language in Nigeria. The research draws data from various Yoruba newspapers published in Nigeria.

7. Examining the Legacy of Amos Tutuola: A work in progress based on a research carried out on Tutuola. The article in entitled He Being Dead Yet Speaketh: The Legacy of Amos Tutuola.

8. Technology and Foreign Language Pedagogy: Working on a paper entitled Web-Enhancing the Foreign Language Classroom: An Experiment with Yoruba and French. This paper shares some insights on how the internet can be used as an effective tool in the teaching and learning of foreign languages, French and Yoruba specifically.

9. How New Words Are Formed in Yoruba: This paper, Compounding in Yoruba, examines how new words are forged through the effective use of compounds (i.e. the art - or is it rather the science of? - bringing several words together to create a new one) in the Yoruba language.
