I
had my PhD in Sociology from Southern
Illinois University at Carbondale. I earned my Bachelors and
two Masters degrees in Sociology and Development Studies from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh,
and Institute of Social Studies, the Netherlands, respectively. I
started my teaching career in the USA at Minot State University,
North Dakota, and joined Fayetteville State University in Fall 2008.
At Minot State, I was recognized as one of the four faculty members
in Arts and Sciences Division in 2006. My research interests cover
globalization, quantitative methods, theory, gender, culture, and
crime/deviance. I published several articles on theories of
development and globalization, disaster, and bio-social explanations
of criminality. I presented papers on globalization,
culture, and HIV/AIDS at numerous national and international
conferences. I am currently working on environmental philanthropy and Islamism.
