Principles of Microbiology (BIOL 255)
Principles of Microbiology is an introductory microbiology course for
biology majors and allied health majors. Course topics include
introductory biochemistry, microbial metabolism, genetic
engineering, pathogenicity of microbes, and essential microbiology
laboratory techniques. Basic principles of immunology are also
explored in this course.
Introduction to Parasitology (BIOL 585)
Introduction to Parasitology is a general parasitology course for
graduate students. The purpose of this course is to provide students
with a fundamental understanding of the taxonomy, cell biology,
pathology, invertebrate anatomy, biochemistry, epidemiology, and
immunology of human parasites.
Scientific Communication (BIOL 225)
Scientific Communication is a general course for undergraduate
science students. The overall purpose of this course is to provide
students with essential scientific writing skills. This course also
provides students with a basic understanding of effective oral
communication skills and teaches students how to construct quality
scientific poster presentations.
Modern Biology (NSCI 120)
Modern Biology is an introductory biology course covering basic
biological concepts that provides the student with a comprehensive
survey of the biological sciences. Important topics include: cell structure and reproduction, energy
relationships at the cellular level, genetics, evolution,
ecology, bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, and animal organ systems.
