This print was completed by Jack Riggin, based on archaeological and historical research by J. Glenn Little III and E. R. Lewis. The federal arsenal was captured by North Carolina on April 22, 1861, transferred to the Confederacy on June 5, 1861, and destroyed by Sherman's armies on March 11-14, 1865. (The print is taken from Fayetteville, North Carolina: A Pictorial History). The Museum of the Cape Fear occupies the location where the arsenal once stood.
