My name is James Alex Warner. I was born on the beautiful Island of St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands.  Presently, I teach at Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  I serve as a Lecturer/Area of Music Coordinator within the Department of Performing and Fine Arts. My duties include direction the of Marching Band, Brass Ensemble, Pep Band, Instruction of Music Theory, Student Teaching, Instrumental conducting, and Applied: Trumpet, Horn in F, Trombone, and Tuba.  In addition to these duties I have given instruction and conducted the following courses: Concert Band, String Ensemble, Secondary Methods, Form and Analysis, Music Appreciation, and Humanities. 

I hold a B.S. degree in Music Education (K-12) from Fayetteville State University and a Masters of Music Education from Miami University of Ohio.  I have completed the course work and comprehensive examination for the Ph.D. in Music Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My Dissertation is titled: The Effects of Selected Musical Elements on Selective Attention and Their Relationship to Adolescent Self-Perception. My prospective graduation date is December 2003.

I am married to the former Jacinth K. Maduro, which took place on July 5, 1997. I have two children a daughter Jalicha, and son, James Jr., better known as J.J. My mother is Berthe Warner and my father is the late Raphael Warner (deceased 07/09/99).
