• Public Schools of  North Carolina--InfoWeb: The official web site of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
• InfoWeb--Social Studies Curriculum: Most teachers taking history courses will be teaching social studies. This site contains the social studies curriculum for public schools in North Carolina.
• NC Technology Competencies for Teachers: Describes the skills public school teachers need.
• NCPublicSchools.org--Employment and Licensure: How to get certified to teach in NC public schools.
• The Praxis Series Web Site: Information from ETS (the Educational Testing Service) about the Praxis examinations required of teachers in NC public schools.
• National Center for History in the Schools: Contains the National Standards developed for American and World history for K-12 instruction.
• The World History Association: Home page for an international organization devoted to research and teaching in world history. Includes K-12 as well as university-level activities.
• The World History Center: Home page for the World History Center, Northeastern University, Boston. If you are interested in pursuing a graduate degree in world history, this is one of the few places such a degree is possible. Also contains links to teaching resources in world history.
• H-WORLD: An Internet listserv discussion list for researchers and teachers in world history. Links to a great number of resources in world history.
• H-Net, Humanities and Social Sciences Online: The parent organization of H-WORLD and a number of other specialized listserv groups. Teachers see the Teaching link.
• Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance: A research group at Concordia University. The site contains information about and links to sites on cooperative learning.

Resources for Computer-Enhanced Learning

• International Center for Computer Enhanced Learning: Located at Wake Forest University, the Center sponsors a number of activities to promote the use of technology in education.
• Webs from Words. How to create a web site using a program you already know--your word processor!
• HTML Tutorial: A basic guide to HyperText Markup Language from the National Supercomputer Center.
• Emily Witcher, Six-Step Netscape Composer Tutorial. A handy tutorial on creating web pages using Netscape Composer.
• Bill Heinrich and Mike Loosbrock. FrontPage Express Tutorial. If you use the VERY basic web editor that is included on many Windows-based computers.
• Act 360, FrontPage 2000 in the Classroom.  A nice introduction to Microsoft FrontPage. Designed for teachers, it is useful for students as well.

• "Computer Training Materials--Software." Information Technology Center. Wake Forest University is a leader in computer-enhanced education. Their tech people have provided links to a variety of online tutorials for building web sites.
