Teaching Philosophy

I categorically reject the pedagogic view that assumes that students are like empty vessels and knowledge of the teacher is a tangible object that can be transferred into the empty vessels waiting to receive it. Once the teacher has transferred the knowledge, the responsibility of the teacher is over. The implications of this theory is that if some students do not learn, it is their  fault because either the vessel was not well built or it  leaks.

I consider teaching and learning as a shared adventure between the student and the teacher in their journey of exploration.  l look upon my role as that of a knowledgeable and experienced guide in the journey of education. I consider my self as a guide who has a compass and leads the students to the destination that is  predetermined. Accordingly, if some students fail to reach their destination, the students as well as the teacher must bear the responsibility. I also subscribe to the theory that pedagogic strategies are critical to student's learning and that these strategies must be varied to meet the diverse students learning styles.
