Welcome to my web site!  I am an associate professor of History responsible for teaching lower division courses in world history and upper division and graduate courses in African history. My major field of study is African history with a emphasis in West Africa, and my minor field is African humanities. I have spent a total of two years on the continent. I have visited or lived in nine of the fifteen countries of West Africa including Senegal, the Gambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, Mali, Cote d'Ivoire, Nigeria, and Ghana. I have traveled in Ethiopia and Eritrea in East Africa, Egypt in North Africa, and in southern Africa, South Africa.  For photos of my trips to Africa click here.

I am also the past Secretary Treasurer of the Liberian Studies Association.
